During April 2020 I took part in Escapril, literary challenge created by US author Savannah Brown in 2019. I wrote a poem a day (some first in Spanish, then translated to English, some the other way around) inspired by the prompts she proposed, and I shared them on my Instagram profile, under the hashtags thousands of other authors use too: #escapril2020 and #escapril. Later I decided to compile my poems and the pictures I paired them with, most of them my own, to share tem as a digital book. The pieces are as varied as the prompts, although there are some overarching themes as the lockdown that was taking place, interspecies connections, and autobiography.

Dusk Coming
(day 14 - prompt: pink, like your brain)

Pink the folds
of my brain at dusk.
Pink the valve opens
up for riot at last.
Lightly surfaces the zenith’s
flame upon the red unburied.
Sky-blue the vault’s blush and
rosy pumps against my digits
my heart
